Architectural Photographers

Nu is a Raleigh-based architectural photographer, meticulous about structures, sites, and how they sit in the landscape, how light moves across them, how people actually live in and experience the space. She works closely with clients to create images that tell a project’s real story.

Most builders and architects don’t think about photography until the project is finished. By then, someone needs images for the portfolio, the awards submission, or the client handoff package. And by then, half the interesting stuff is already gone. That’s the framing before drywall and the mechanical systems before a ceiling covers them. It’s also the design details that disappear once people move in and start using the space. Nu is one of the architectural photographers across the Triangle who shoots with exactly that in mind. She catches the craftsmanship and intent that usually vanish by ribbon-cutting.

Architectural Photography During Construction

A finished building photographs well from the sidewalk. What’s harder to capture is the craftsmanship that later disappears. Structural steel before framing encloses it. Custom millwork mid-install. The moment a space goes from studs to finished. That’s also exactly what most builders want for their own marketing. Getting those images means scheduling a shoot before the trades finish, not after.

Working around an active site

Nu is among the architectural photographers who shoot around live construction regularly. She works with a project’s schedule instead of against it. That means coordinating around deliveries, other trades on site, and safety gear. It also means working around whatever’s actually happening that day, rather than waiting for a clean, staged environment. DPR Construction is one of the builders she’s worked with this way. She shoots on-site, around an active schedule. That means capturing the parts of a build that don’t make it into the final walkthrough.

Interior and Exterior Architectural Photography

Interior architectural work and exterior building photography aren’t the same job. Interiors depend on controlling or supplementing whatever light is already in the space. That’s especially true in a building with mixed natural and artificial sources. Exteriors depend on timing. A flat midday shot and a building lit properly at dusk are worlds apart. The difference comes down to when the shoot happens, not just where the camera points.architecture-photographers-raleigh-duke-staircasecommercial-photographer-raleigh-lilly-pulitzerarchitecture photographer raleigh new image studioArchitecture

What the finished files are actually for

Most clients hiring architectural photography need these images for more than one thing. That could be a proposal deck, a website portfolio, an awards submission, or a press release. Sometimes it’s all four from the same shoot. It helps to know upfront which of these matters most. A hero shot for a website banner and a detail shot for an awards packet aren’t the same photo.

Does Nu shoot occupied or active construction sites?

Yes, regularly. She works around a project’s schedule and safety requirements rather than needing the site cleared for architectural photography.

Can she shoot at dusk or after hours for exterior lighting?

Yes, and for most exterior building photography it’s recommended. A building lit properly at dusk reads completely differently than the same building at noon.

What do clients get, and how fast?

High-resolution digital files with retouching included. Turnaround depends on scope. Tell her your deadline upfront, whether it’s an awards submission or a proposal due date. She’ll build the shoot and edit timeline around it.
